About St. Croix Real Estate
St. Croix Real Estate, Inc. was established in 1987 to acquire and develop commercial real estate in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Since its inception, St. Croix Real Estate, Inc. has acquired and developed or redeveloped office buildings, retail centers, and industrial properties; and in recent years, has partnered with others to construct multi-family rental housing in Minneapolis and Richfield.
St. Croix Real Estate, Inc. also serves as property manager on selected properties, which are owned by Mary McNellis, alone or with partners, and as development consultant advising commercial property users on the development and construction of new buildings.
About Mary
Mary has worked in commercial real estate development for over thirty-five years starting with her employment as a project manager in St. Paul’s Department of Planning and Economic Development under Mayor George Latimer.
During her time with the City of St. Paul, she worked directly with the Mayor and the City Council to redevelop targeted areas of the City with new housing and commercial properties serving various neighborhoods. Key projects included the Minnesota History Center, the Lake Phalen children’s hospital development, the renewal of the Selby/Western neighborhood, and many others.
In 1987, Mary left the City of St. Paul and founded St. Croix Real Estate, Inc. to acquire, develop and redevelop commercial properties for her own ownership. Over the years she has built retail centers, industrial properties, office buildings and multifamily rental housing.
Her experience also includes an extensive background in community service including as a planning commissioner, elected official, board member and former president of the Vadnais Heights Economic Development Corporation, Vadnais Heights Community Foundation, University of Minnesota College of Design advisory board, Minnesota Lions Vision Foundation and the Wildwood Lions Club in Mahtomedi.
